THE ENGINEER BEHIND DRABSNARG

Understand the system. Then build on it.

I’m a Media Systems Engineer with experience across broadcast infrastructure, production environments, enterprise IT, and networking. Drabsnarg gives that work—and my ongoing experiments—a place to grow.

Working across the connections

Media systems bring together networks, software, hardware, timing, storage, and people. Supporting those environments means looking beyond one device or application to understand how the whole path behaves.

My experience includes broadcast workflows and Ross XPression, live streaming and production infrastructure, network installation and troubleshooting, Cisco Catalyst and Meraki equipment, and Windows, macOS, and server administration.

I also work with Microsoft 365, Entra ID, and Intune, along with media technologies including Dante audio networking, PTP synchronization, NDI, SDI, and AES. Python and PowerShell provide practical ways to automate repeatable work.

A technical journey that keeps expanding

My technical interests connect hands-on IT and networking with broader systems engineering. Software, automation, and local AI create new ways to investigate problems and build tools, while the underlying engineering habits remain useful: understand dependencies, test assumptions, and document what happened.

This site will develop alongside that journey. It is a record of work and learning rather than a claim that every experiment is finished.

How I approach engineering

  • Understand the underlying system. Learn what each component does and how information moves between them.
  • Troubleshoot systematically. Separate observations from assumptions and use evidence to narrow the problem.
  • Build for maintenance. Prefer understandable configurations, repeatable procedures, and useful documentation.
  • Own the infrastructure. Understand the responsibilities that come with running systems, including access, recovery, and limitations.
  • Keep experimenting. Treat a result as useful when its context and limits are clear.

Currently exploring

Local AI inference, software development, automation, cybersecurity, and multi-agent coding workflows. The AI Lab documents the local infrastructure; the Projects section distinguishes active work from planned experiments.
